Fall 2006
Dear Partners,
We have just entered another season not only in the natural but also in the supernatural.
This has been an exciting year and we believe the best is yet to come for all of us before the years end.
In chapter two of the book of John, the Message translation tells us that:
Jesus was attending a wedding in the village of Cana
in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there. Jesus and his disciples were guests also. When they started running low on wine at
the wedding banquet, Jesus' mother told him, "They're just about out of wine." Jesus
said, "Is that any of our business, Mother—yours or mine? This isn't my time. Don't push me."
She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, "Whatever he tells you, do it." Six stoneware water pots were
there, used by the Jews for ritual washings. Each held twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus ordered the servants, "Fill the
pots with water." And they filled them to the brim. "Now fill your pitchers and take them to the host," Jesus
said, and they did.
When the host tasted the water that had become wine (he didn't know what had
just happened but the servants, of course, knew), he called out to the bridegroom, "Everybody I know begins with their
finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you've saved the best till now!"
This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples
believed in him.
One thing that has always stood out about this story is the servants. Jesus
had not done any miracles up until now so they had not heard of Him. They knew water was put into the pots and the pitchers
and now they were to stand before the wedding host (their employer) who was expecting wine. They could lose their jobs and
be the laughing stock of the community but they didn’t question Him or walk away and let someone else do it. They just
did it. We never hear about these men and women any where else in the Bible but they are true heroes and herons for simply
doing what Jesus asked them to do. The verse said “Jesus said and they did.”
Your
financial giving through Champion Ministries continues providing financial assistance to several widows, orphans, single
parent households and community outreaches. In addition, we are providing a Bible school student with
half of her year’s tuition and several missionaries were sent overseas to preach the Gospel with more preparing to leave
soon. Now another opportunity has just come up to send ministers to Vietnam. We will be able to send them with your help.
We
always want to express that your sowing into this ministry is greatly appreciated. We pray for you on a daily basis. Remember
that when you send us out to minister it is being said about you “Jesus said and they did.”
We love you,
Bill & Beth
