Summer 2007

Dear Partners,

Together we are making a difference! This year is going by so quickly and there have already been many community outreaches to help hurting people. As our partners, you have personally touched their lives through Champion Ministries. We would like to share one particular event with you.

On a recent Saturday, we were at a popular park in the city. In the day light, there are children playing on the play ground and basketball courts are full of the local upcoming stars but when the night falls in the surrounding area changes take place. The crime rate goes up and gangs are open for business in the community.

 This outreach was targeting the area’s children and teens from the nearby apartment complexes. Games and music drew them to the rented pavilion and it was there that they heard about Jesus and asked Him into their hearts. There were over 100 in attendance.

We noticed one man had been watching from a distance. You could see he was struggling with the idea of coming in to talk to someone. God was dealing with his heart. Soon we were talking face to face about his life. He was crying as he said that he knew that he needed to change things in his life. He was addicted to methamphetamine and was loosing everything around him including his family. As we talked and revealed God’s Word the miracle took place when he was asked if he would like to invite Jesus into his heart.  Tears continued to run down his face as he said yes. He was crying so hard as he repeated that prayer that he could hardly finish the words. We talked for a while and encouraged him to start attending a local church that we recommended in the area. He was a new man and the first thing he wanted to do was go tell his family.

As our partners, you touched this family. We thank you for your faithfulness. Together we are making a difference. As always, we speak blessings over your lives on a daily basis and agree with the Word of God concerning you. You will never know how much your prayers are appreciated! Keep praying with us as we are scheduled for outreaches throughout the summer and Beth is returning to Vietnam in September. Romans 10:15 tells us ‘how will they preach unless they are sent.’ Thank you for sending us!

Remember, your best days are in front of you. Be encouraged in Christ, you are more than a champion!
